What gardening zone are we in?

The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone map has Friday Harbor in zone 8a. This means the the average annual minimum temperature is 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. This helps you to know what plants survive and thrive where you live, and when to start plants indoors so they are ready to plant once the ground thaws.

When does the greenhouse open?

Live goods are available in the greenhouse year-round. We get multiple deliveries each week from our suppliers, so we'll always have the strongest live plants for your home.

The Garden Center at Browne’s

We are an all-organic garden center in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. While you can find conventional garden supplies in Browne’s Home Center, the Garden Center only carries non-chemical fertilizers and pest deterrents. The Garden Center also carries a wide range of ceramic planters and bagged sterile potting mediums that are free of weed seeds and insects.
